Premesso che comunque, sia prima (con gli Eurythmics) sia dopo (da sola), ha fatto cose notevolissime, se l’intera carriera musicale di Annie Lennox ci avesse dato anche solo questa Why del 1992, si sarebbe conquistata un posto speciale nel pantheon delle interpretazioni più struggenti della storia, senza contare la meravigliosa sequenza finale di deittici:
